Prompt: What is the cause of the paralysing inaction that plagues Hamlet? If you were not 100% sure about something would you do it sill? In William shakespeare’s Hamlet, the young prince of denmark is maddened by the events that took place in his home. Hamlet’s bold and well rounded father, his reign of the throne was abruptly ended. Which sends the prince spiraling downhill into the deep pockets of madness. Hamlet becomes ingulfed in a phase of revenge, the events from the trail of his revenge doesn’t go at all how he planned, because of his uncertainty. Hamlet hand many chances to kill the new king after his father died. The new king happened to be his uncle, King Claudious rose to power by marrying Hamlet’s mother. This came at a very hard time for hamlet he became bitter towards his mother, because he felt as if that was too soon and should still have been mourning for his father as he was. Hamlet talks to a ghost which seems to look like his father, the ghost tells Hamlet that his death was no accident …show more content…

“To be or to not be”, Hamlet is talking about if it is even worth living. He is uncertain with his love of ophelia, his anger towards his mother, his revenge on the king and that is all because the young prince is not even sure if he wants to be alive and breathing. He doesnt care to die he does not fear death he isnt really spooked by the thought of either he actually think it would an easy way out and thinks about it, but then decides not and just stick with the idea of revenge. His uncertainty about wanting to live is another delay of the new and corrupt king. Some people may believe that uncertainty is what prolonged his actions but however Hamlet’s love for his mother could have been another reason he did not kill the king right away because he didn’t know his mother’s true feelings about the new king.
