Definition:
Employee Compensation according to Anita Satterlee has three elements; “Base compensation, pay incentives, and benefits” (Satterlee, 2013). She then states this about this three elements, “These three items constitute a remuneration package which the employee obtains for his or her labor” (Saterlee, 2013).

Ola Bengtsson, who works in the Department of Economics at Lund University, and John Hand, who is an accounting faculty at the University of North Carolina, wrote an article on venture capitalist companies and their employee compensation plans. Within Satterlee’s definition it is shown that pay incentives and the bonuses (Satterlee, 2013). These items help reveal how a company cares for its employees. These things have shown through the data assist a business, but it also shows how it can assist an employee in selecting a business to go to. Overall, using venture capitalism and offering employee compensation will benefit a company and an employee. In addition, a business does not have to be venture capitalist to have employee compensation, the study from Bengtsson showed that employee compensation was most prevalent in venture capitalist companies. With this in mind, businesses should begin using employee compensation to attract more seasoned employees. (Word Count
