If I were taking advice from someone, I would listen to the person with the most experience and knowledge on the subject. In Arthur MIller's "The Crucible" Rebecca Nurse seems the most fit to hold that role. Since she is a peacemaker, wise and valued she is very important in the community. Rebecca is wise to child care.

The Salem witch trial hysteria of 1692 may have been instigated by religious, social, geographic and even biological factors. During these trials, 134 people were condemned as witches and 19 were hanged. These statistics also include 5 more deaths that occurred prior to their execution date. It is interesting to look into the causes of this stain on American History, when as shown in document B, eight citizens were hanged in only one day.
In The Crucible, a lot of characters were not judged fairly. Most of them were jailed or killed and it provided little proof of witchcraft. One character for example was Rebecca Nurse. During the trial, Mary Warren pretended that Rebecca has summoned her soul to choke her.

She has a very good reputation throughout the village and has given a lot of charity. Rebecca Nurse realizes that the reason the kids are acting this way is because that's how kids are. She thinks all of the accusations about witchcraft are false. Rebecca Nurse is very down to earth with the children and would never accuse them of anything.
In Salem, Massachusetts, Puritans were strong believers in the Bible. The Bible states, “Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.” The Puritans beliefs led to them accusing 20 innocent people of being a witch, this resulted in their deaths in 1692. Even though the Puritans couldn’t see it at the time, their accusations were really based off jealousy, lies, and Salem being divided into two parts. One cause of the Salem witch trial hysteria was jealousy.
In the play The Crucible Rebecca Nurse is a noble woman who falls victim to the blame game that is the Salem Witch trials. She is Francis Nurse’s wife and well liked within the town until it was known at a witch could not be a witch if she were to blame someone else. Thus setting Rebecca up for doom when Mrs. Putnam’s children are unable to live long after birth and the only one falls ill soon after the accusement begins. As well as when Mr. Parris’ daughter Betty won’t wake up from a deep sleep. But Rebecca is too honest to “confess” to being a witch and saving herself.
The establishment of the colonies was a universe of anxiety and lust for an individual. An atrocious event that took place in Salem, Massachusetts. A town where colonist feared starvation, exposure to disease, and Native Americans. This was only the beginning for Salem and their uprising nightmare. A nightmare that I would desire to experience and travel back in time to 1692-1693.
Cotton Mather accounts the witch trial of Martha Carrier through reporting the accusations and crimes prosecuted against her. This trial was unjust because prosecution occurred to explain unnatural events by using unfounded, spectral evidence. All unnatural events affected the witnesses negatively in matters of health or occupation. This led the people of Salem to create a scapegoat for their misfortune and other ‘witches’ to persecute those near to them in the fear of death.

In Arthur Miller’s play The Crucible, Mary Warren, Abigail Williams, and Tituba are instrumental in spreading the hysteria that resulted in the Salem Witch Trials. The word “Salem," is in close relation to “witchcraft," "hanging" and “hysteria" when mentioned. Many are shocked and appalled by the seeming complete lack of justice and sanity that occurred during the Salem Witch Trials of 1692, when nineteen individuals were put to their death for crimes they did not commit. Witchcraft was introduced when a group of girls were caught dancing in the woods by Betty’s father, Revered Parris. When caught, Betty pretended to faint in the woods and remained in a coma like state for a couple days because she was scared.
