The director has used different techniques throughout the movie such as an establishing shot. The establishing shot shows the characters and the setting of the film. At the start of the film, the audience sees that everything is bright and light and everyone is happy. In the background, you can hear music which sounds happy and cheerful but throughout the movie it turns darker. This scene sets up the movie for the revenge scandal. Before she enters the hall, a large shadow defining her staff and her horns is shown that signifies power showing that she is arriving and that everyone should kneel to her. Her facial features show that she is sarcastic and that she is only there to make the king pay for what he did to her. Maleficent has turned cold since that unfortunate night with King Stefan so she gets pay back by changing his entire life and giving away the thing he loves most as he did to her so it is basically pay back. She makes King Stefan kneel in front of his subjects and beg for maleficent to stop and that shows that Maleficent has a great deal of dominance over the King. While Maleficent is cursing Aurora she produces a green flame that implies that she is feeling envy, jealousy and is extremely
