When it comes to film adaptations of books most have differences that don’t go along with the book for the sake of the movie’s time, production, etc. One of these examples is the film adaptation of Veronica Roth’s Divergent. Many differences are seen between the book and the film.
The images on the screen and my personal interpretation of the setting have minor differences. The ones that were presented on screen met my expectations on what the setting looked like as described in the book; as a large, ambient space with training dummies, rings targets and full of initiates training to become a member of Dauntless. Some differences that I found was the Pit was not as big and overwhelming as I expected and the rooms where initiates would stay to sleep

Another scene I would have liked to see in the film is when Tris’ reunites with her mother at the Visitor’s Center which did not appear.
They probably omitted these scenes because they probably took too much movie time since there has to be a limit of time in a film. Another reason would be that they probably did not find those scenes important or relevant to put on screen.
There were some scenes I was pleased to see in the movie. Some of these were: when Tris was zip lining. I enjoyed that scene because you could see the happiness in her face; she felt free. Another scene was the one Four was under simulation and Tris put the gun to her forehead saying it was fine which then triggered him back.
I did enjoy the movies effects and the overall “look” of the movie. It gave it more realistic depth to it. The scene that most stood out to me was the ones that consisted of the simulations. It made you feel like that was what a simulation would look like; thanks to the effects of the movie and the overall
