In this essay i will be talking about how friendship, equality, beliefs and compassion is shown in these two texts to explain the difference and diversity and how it was used to influence the texts. I will be discussing content from the movie Looking For Alibrandi, directed by Kate Woods (2000) and Maralinga The Anangu Story, by Maralinga Tjarutja Inc (2009). A large Part of this essay is the sense of belonging and feeling included in family, friends and community. The key value of belonging is essential in Looking For Alibrandi and the Maralinga The Anangu Story and how it persuades the audience that it is mainly to do with difference. In the film Looking For Alibrandi, is based around family and friends. Josie the main character wanted to follow her beliefs and her family made her follow the Italian tradition.Josie saw herself and wanted to be identified as Australian. and she wanted to live the Australian way. We later find out in the film that she isn't true Italian like she's always been told. She's partly Australian and just raised in a Italian community. Leading up to this she had man family problems, her dad left when she was young, she always use to fight with her nan and mum. But in the end they always forgive each other because they were her family. It doesn't matter what nationality you are or live by, the message is that family is the most important thing in our lives. In the Maralinga The Anangu People, the Aboriginal communities stuck together. The community always worked as a team where Looking For Alibrandi shows how we live now days compared to how they use to live years ago. This also shows how the community brings up the children and not just a
