Since the Holocaust, the United Nations have made sure to let everyone throughout the world have equal rights. This mass killing of Jews violated every right that they had. They were beaten to death, shot on spot, starved, poorly clothed, et cetera. No one deserves the harsh treatment that they got throughout World War II. Nearly six million Jews died during this regime of a Nazi leader named Hitler.
Elie Wiesel's memoir Night is a deeply moving and haunting account of his experiences as a Jewish teenager during the Holocaust. In his writing, Wiesel employs a range of rhetorical strategies to convey the emotional impact of the Holocaust on the reader. Two of the most powerful strategies he uses are tone and imagery. Through his tone of sadness, anger, and despair, Wiesel creates a connection between the reader and the horrors of the Holocaust. Meanwhile, his use of vivid and haunting imagery works to create a visceral and unforgettable image of life in the concentration camps.

Evaluation of Night By Eliezer Wiesel The novel “Night” is an extraordinary story about the Holocaust, that shows the young life of Eliezer Wiesel as he overcomes the struggles of the Holocaust. This novel illustrates the experiences of the Jews that endured the Holocaust. By reading this novel, one will gain a much better understanding of the events that occured during this time.
Loaded into cattle trains on their way to an uncertain destination it's so crammed that it's impossible to sit down so they must take turns. Two days pass and they have crossed the hungarian border and are now in Germany. A German officer has informed them that their were 80 people in the car and if anybody goes missing they will all be shot like dogs. In the dead of night a woman named Mrs.Schächter begins to scream and throw a fit because she was separated from her husband and all of a sudden begins to scream that she sees fire an awful fire. The Jews in the car try to help Mrs.Schächter by explaining that the visions are not real and then they are fed up and begins to beat her with hits strong enough to kill her.
Evaluation of the story The novel Night, by Elie Wiesel, brings us an suspenseful autobiography written in first person of the author’s life of his life experience of long days and nights journey for a year in the Nazi concentration camps during World War II. The story goes in depth with Wiesel being taken with his father to Auschwitz, losing the faith he had in the beginning, watching his family and father slowly fading away from him which had effects on himself, and being freed from the exhaustion of labor. This novel has many characters, suspense, and a variety of figurative language to help make the book come alive.
The poem encourages the reader not to give up but look ahead and be sure that after every dark night there is daylight. The similes are used to illustrate the gloomy weather. The similes also describe the feelings of the speaker in the weather. Through the use of the similes the overall tone is

A fictional teacher whose name I am not at liberty to disclose has been recorded as making the following comment, “I realize that Night is a powerful, well-written book but I would not use it in class. I would prefer to have students read a more uplifting piece of Holocaust literature, such as The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank or Lois Lowry’s Number the Stars.” I will attempt to refrain from insulting this teacher’s teaching style because I have tremendous respect for all teachers, but these comments cannot be allowed to remain unchecked. I do not support this teaching style. By omitting Night from classroom activities while learning about the Holocaust and literature that has been created from it, this teacher is doing a large disservice to his/her students.
Dylan Thomas’s famous elegy “Do Not Go Gentle into that Good Night” is perhaps the greatest example of villanelle in modern poetry, using death as its focus. Death is a unifier in the sense that no man, big or small can resist their eventual end. However, the author recognizes the solemnness of the concept and connects it to the audience’s fear of losing a loved one. By doing so, the poem taps into the raw emotion of the will to live. This paper will describe how Thomas uses a series of brilliant poetic strategies such as diction, structure and rhythm to suggest that all men, while different in character, should passionately resist the inevitability of death.
For example, the text states, “A Moment–We uncertain step, For newness of the night—, Then—fit our Vision to the Dark—, And meet the Road—erect—,” (Dickinson, lines 5-8). This stanza shows that for a moment things are in the dark and everything is unclear. But when adapted to the dark, everything will become transparent again. Although this stanza provides a positive outlook, the previous stanzas are portrayed as depressing and underwhelming. However, the attitude shifts during the last stanza from negative to positive.
The Holocaust took place during WWII; during this time, it was Adolph Hitler’s goal to destroy the Jewish people. Six million Jews were killed during this time. With all being killed, there were some who survived the brutal concentration camps. Within these survivors was a man named Elie Wiesel. In his autobiography Night, Wiesel shares his experiences as a Jewish teenager in one of the Nazi concentration camps.
Flannery O’Connor uses style, tone, and character to tell the story of a family and a band of misfits as they struggle with good over evil in the Southern Gothic short story ‘A Good Man is Hard to Find’ (Kirszner & Mandell, 2012). The style and tone of the characters are depicted in a way that makes it difficult to feel compassion or sympathy for them. The figurative language and style used by the author depicts characters with casual, informal, and extreme Southern stereotypes, diction and attitudes. The tone of the story is ironic in regard to both the characters and plot. O’Connor uses colorful language to describe the characters of the story in a way that allows the reader to vividly see the characters as cartoon like, grotesque, and exaggerated.
In the poem “Do not go gentle into that good night,” the poet uses a metaphor to compare death as “night” and “dying of the light.” Dylan Thomas repeats the lines “Do not go gentle into that good night” and “Rage, rage against the dying of the light” in each stanza to emphasize that all men should not accept death, but fight it until their last breath. He describes four types of dying men before addressing his father. First, he states that intelligent men that know death is near and have not had any impact on society still fight to live: “though wise men at their end know dark is right, / Because their words had forked no lightning they / do not go gentle into the good night.” (Lines 4-6).
“Do Not Go Gentle Into that Good Night” is a poem written by Dylan Thomas at the time when his father was at the brink of death. The piece is actually a villanelle where it consist of six stanzas, each with three lines except for the sixth stanza which has four lines. The rhymes on the first until fifth stanzas are aba, aba, aba, aba, aba. While, abaa is the rhyme for the last quatrain stanza. Thomas died a few months after his father, it is believed that this poem was written by him especially for his father.
