The Magna Carta is a very important piece of document that is used by Kings and Queens to obey the laws and limits their powers1. The first Magna Carta was written by Stephen Langton the Archbishop of Canterbury from (1207-1228)2.It was written for king John who was the ruler of England from (1199-1216),because King John was the worst king the medieval period ever had, also was famously known for being a lackland and a softsword1. This means that he wasn’t a brave soldier always lost in wars and had very little land because of the unneeded wars he held and would always lost in1. King John died at the age of 49 because of dysentery1.

In additional King John raised taxes to pay for his wars and made the barons pay large amount of money to inherit their father’s land, ten times higher than they’re expected to pay1. King John appearance is that he is fat bald and like to wear fine clothes such as fur robes1. Then during 1214 John had ask the Emperor of Germany to join the Battle of Bovines against the French because his own barons didn’t want to1. Both sides divided their attack and King John invaded south of France and Germany invaded the North1. On the original copy of the first Magna Carta there were 63 rules5. In 1225 the Magna Carta have been rewritten by King Henry the III6, 32 rules have been kept from the original one and 5 more rules have been added7. Also now 800 years later 3 rules have been kept which are (Clause 1: the liberties of the English church, Clause 13: the privileges of the city of London and (clauses 39&40: the right to trial by jury) meaning a group of people or citizen who are chosen to decide the facts of a case in a court
