America is one of the most diverse countries in world, varying in over 6 different races. With that being said, most people do not see color. According to Oxford dictionaries racism is Prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior. Because It is illegal to show racial prejudice in public places like the work place, schools, and even rest rooms, some argue that racism is no longer existent in today’s society. Many people do not hide the fact that they are racist and Some people even take pride in being racist. In History, there have many been hate groups formed to express the disdain of a certain group or race. One of the most commonly known hate groups is the Ku Klux Klan or the KKK for short. The first Klan originated back in 1865 and back then, members wore mask to hide their identities. As intimidation, the Ku Klux Klan would use public violence against black people and their allies. The Klan would lynch black men and women and burn their homes to the ground. KKK members would also attack and kill African Americans late at night, and leave their bodies in the road as “examples.” Like the past, today, KKK members still walk the streets freely and hold rallies. They still practice the idea of “White Supremacy” and “White Superiority”. Hate groups are not the only groups that racism is existent in. Racism is also displayed in law enforcement and has always been an issue in history, and today. While Americas police force is diversifying each day, it is predominantly white.
