Question: “Have scientist proved the Bible story of God causing the sun to stand still and move backward? No! Nonetheless, this event is recorded in the Inspired, infallible Word of God; therefore, we doubt not that it occurred. However, the various articles that have been printed, which were based upon information supposedly gathered by studying past equinoxes, eclipses, etc. has absolutely no proof. Yet, they were believed and reprinted as an honest effort to prove the accuracy of the Bible. Had the information been scientifically accurate, it could have further demonstrated the accuracy of Scripture; however, Christians have at their disposal a sufficient amount of evidence that the Bible is the verbally inspired word of God. Isaiah delivered the message and Hezekiah asked that the shadow on the sun dial of Ahaz be brought back ten degrees as a sign of proof that the message was from God. (II Kings 20:1-11) Hezekiah was one of the great kings of the Jews. Under his wise and righteous leadership the people became very spiritual and enjoyed God’s blessings. However, the fifteen years that his life was extended did not prove to be his best years. It was during those years that his son, Manasseh, was born. When he replaced his father, he led Israel “to do more evil than the nations whom the Lord had destroyed before the children of Israel.” (II Kings 21:9) There were two courts in the temple Solomon built, and Manasseh built altars in them to worship false gods. Whether this would have happened if Hezekiah had accepted God’s offer when He said, “Set your house in order, for you shall die,” cannot be known; however, since Manasseh, who was later born, led Israel astray and his son, Amon, led them further away from God, one may wonder what would have happened had a different son replaced
