As James Dashner, the author who wrote The Maze Runner Series, said, “Be unpredictable, be real, be interesting. Tell a good story.” When people read a book they expect to be whisked away into its own world of characters, comedy, and adventure. People should be able to connect with the characters, feel emotions while reading, and the author must be able to captivate the reader with the plot and unexpected events of the story. Stories need to include highly descriptive and sensual detail to enhance the imagination of the reader and transport the reader into the setting of the story.
First of all, a great story has plot twists that keep the reader guessing. By incorporating surprising events to the point of shocking the reader, the author will keep the reader hooked and interested in the story.
