For the dog’s head, chose the blade that is two lengths longer than the blade you did on the body. This time you will be going AGAINST the grain on the top of the head towards the eyes and on the sides of the face.
10. Use your scissors to trim the visor* and underneath the chin. Lift the dog’s ears and scissor around the dog’s head/face until the head is round.
11. You will use the same blade on the tail as you used on the head. Going WITH the grain, blend* the tail at the base. 12. Finally, use your scissors to clip any stray hairs that are out of place on the dog’s body. You’re done and have successfully groomed your first dog! Congratulations!
*****Vocabulary******
The visor is the eyebrows or hair going across the top of the eyes.
To blend means to trim the hair so there is no visible line between two different lengths of hair.
The occiput (you should know) is that boney structure in the back of the dog’s head where the top of the neck starts.
