This novel is the story of Christopher John Francis Boone, a 15-year old boy who has Asperger Syndrome, a form of Autism and it is told by him and his unique perspective. Despite his disorder, Christopher is completely content with his life wit his father having everything he needs. The story begins when Christopher is outside late at night. As he is walking around, he finds his neighbor's dog with a fork lodged into its ribcage. Police officers arrive begin to take care of the investigation but Christopher decides to investigate himself. To track his progress, he begins to write a book. The letters have dates as recent as the week he had found them, long after he believed that his mother had died. After reading a few Christopher descovers that his mother had left his father to be with another man. His father comes home and discovers that Christopher has learned the burning secret he has tried to keep hidden for so long. He knows he cannot lie to christopher any longer and confesses to him that he was the one who killed the dog Wellington. He took out all of his anger and loss and other complication on the dog. This immediately strikes fear into christopher because he knows that his father is now a murderer. The only option he has is to run away, and decides to go live with his mother in london. After a torturous experience at the train station that was new and unfamiliar to Christopher complete with the constant roar of buslting passengers. Christopher finally makes it to London and explains to his mother why he never wrote back. With the help of the poice force, his father is able to track hiim down to his mothers house and both his parents get in a huge fight. With nothing left he begs Christopher to forgive him and move back in with him but not understanding the pain his father was going through or having a true sense of love, he stays with his mother and contiues his life as if nothing had
