What woman could be born to a family with 12 kids, live in a one room cabin and still be one of the richest women in the world? Of course, it's the highly successful singer, songwriter, and actress Dolly Parton. Born in 1946, Dolly Parton is a self made millionaire who has written songs like “9-5”, “Jolene”, and “I Will Always Love You”. She also owns the successful theme park “Dollywood” and she has started many foundations and given back to her community and the world with her large fortune. Dolly Parton deserves to be on a stamp because she has positively changed the entertainment industry, she has many accomplishments, and she has made many charitable contributions to society.

One of her first and many accomplishments is that she has been very successful in the entertainment industry since a young age. Dolly started performing as a child and by the time she was a teenager, she was singing on local radio and television shows. She moved to Nashville in the early 1960s and signed a record deal and she quickly became well-known for her unique style and powerful vocals: “With her first single on Goldband Records at age 13, a publishing deal with Tree Publishing just a couple years later, Dolly’s recording deal with Mercury Records was the next step towards her journey to stardom” (dollyparton.com). In the 60s, it wasn't super common for child stars to get as popular as Dolly. Especially because of her background and her disadvantages, it shows how spectacular of a singer Dolly is that she got so famous at such a young age. Another one of her many accomplishments is all of her awards. While Fred Rogers has helped educate lots of children, not every child has access to his show. Nearly 1 in 10 people cannot afford to eat dinner everyday, nonetheless buy a TV and a cable network to watch his show. As shown in this quote: “At last count, the Dolly Parton Imagination Library mails books to more than 1.3 million children each month” (readbrightly.com), Dolly Parton helps educate those children who can't afford to watch his shows or get his resources to learn. Furthermore, Mr Rogers Neighborhood has not been aired since 2001 so many young kids have never seen him before. Even though the spinoff show Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood is still running, most kids don't even realize it has any connection whatsoever to Mr Rogers.
