When someone is born into a challenging life it is extremely hard to be successful. However, Dolly Parton still pulled it off. Dolly Parton was born into a working-class family in Tennessee, Parton dreamed of becoming famous. Now her songs and philanthropy are making an impact worldwide. She deserves respect and honor for all the work she has done. Dolly Parton deserves the honor of being on the United States Postal Stamp because of her work in literacy, her inspiration to the women of America, and the countless charities that she has supported.

Firstly, Parton chose a career in a male-dominated industry. At the time the music industry had mostly male performers. She was one of the only female performers to make it big in her time. Following Parton's peak many other women started popping up in the music industry. Her career led to a much more balanced industry, where women could be recognized. To follow, many very successful women have talked about Parton as an inspiration. “Eight main female country music singers that have stated they are influenced/inspired by Dolly Parton are Martina McBride, Ashley Monroe, Jennifer Nettles, Reba McEntire, Kacey Musgraves, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, and Miley Cyrus,” (Nash). The performers listed are all extremely successful in their music. With Parton's inspiration, they have made it big. They may not have been as influenced to go into the industry if Parton hadn’t shown that it could be done. Also in her rise to fame southern working-class women were a main audience for her music (Westbo). These women had small roles in their jobs, and not many were in charge of anything. It is true, the way Parton dresses has been judged and scrutinized all across history. She has been harshly judged for the way she dresses with her bold outfits and wigs. Moreover, this also makes her more of an inspiration to younger girls. She doesn’t quiet down or change because others tell her to. She lives her life the way she wants to because she wants to. Not only this but by making her bold decisions she has inspired women across the globe not to just sit and take what comes to them.
