Abuse. Two definitions of this word from the Merriam-Webster dictionary are “language that condemns or vilifies usually unjustly, intemperately, and angrily” and “physical maltreatment”. Another definition pulled from Merriam-Webster’s dictionary is “of or relating to the household or the family”, which is one of few definitions for the word domestic. The definitions of these words can be combined to define the term domestic abuse. Though it may be hard to believe this term labels a common issue, domestic abuse is a widespread occurrence in our world that can be taken care of using resources available to us.
