I would like to first start off by thanking Bressler, Amery & Ross and Partners for Women and Justice for giving me the opportunity to further my passion in helping those in need. Having been blessed with the opportunity to grow up in America and gain an education, I always knew that I wanted to use what I had learned, and become a voice and help those who are unable to help to help themselves.
My interest in helping Domestic Violence victims has a little to do with my cultural background. Domestic violence is a very prevalent issue in India. The notion of domestic violence is rooted in patriarchy - where women are regarded as inferior to men and abuse of women is widely condoned and beating is often justified.
