Birthed from the Island of Dominica, with its lustrous green vegetation, rivers, and streams that run to the ocean, an island mix of rich history and vibrant culture that cultivated the lives of numerous, I am Andra Richards. As a prospective Judge, I have been influenced by life’s mishaps and injustices that many of my friends, family and I have suffered. This pushed me to desire a change in my community and nation and by means through the Criminal Justice System and as such pursued to further my education. As a young lady who was raised by a single parent that earned a low income, I am delighted to state that as a proud graduate of the Dominica State College, I have obtained my Associate Degree in Law Enforcement, Paralegal Studies, and Psychology. …show more content…
There I also learned and obtained the skills and ability to build trustworthy relationships, excellent communication skill, as well learning to be articulate and well spoken, confidential and to be a hard worker. I joined the Christian Club where I represented my country overseas at an international conference. During that time I was also involved in Youth Ministries at my local church and became the youth worship and dance Leader as well being on the board as an executive member.
Over the past years, I have learned that if a window of opportunity is presented that one should seize it and as a result, I am currently studying at the Grambling State University where I will obtain a Baccalaureate Degree in Criminal Justice and subsequently a Masters Degree in Social Work. the reason that Grambling State University was chosen was simply for the fact that it was much more affordable and that I could broaden my horizons and my sense of culture and an opportunity to gain a world class education that I, desperately
