Hostetter worked with companies such as General Electric Co, RCA Corp as financial operations in Industrial Tube Division. In 1972 Hostetter was assigned an executive head of the Lancaster City Redevelopment Authority, which the middle of transforming the second block of North Queen Street into Lancaster Square. And In 1975, Hostetter was an executive of the then-Conestoga Savings and Loan Association. Hostetter has a major development in the Conestoga by doubling the savings. He retired in 1982. Hostetter worked on the advisory board for the Conestoga Division of Harris Savings Association. Not only that but also Hostetter worked as chairman of the distribution committee of the Lancaster County Foundation. An organization that begins founded in 1924 to distribute the wealth from different clients. Attracting new donors, he increased the size of the foundation and because of his astonishing work the Lancaster County Foundation granted more than $600,000.
