Donald Trump is polling so low with black voters that reaching out to them certainly can’t hurt. For what seems like since the time of Genesis, Republicans have conceded the black vote to Democrats. As a voting bloc, blacks have been willfully taken for granted by Democrats for decades. There was a time however when the black vote wasn’t always in the back pocket of every Democrat. From Lincoln to Hoover, a span of nearly 70 years, blacks voted Republican. The Black Republican narrative is as long as it is historic, but most have no idea. It was Republican President Dwight Eisenhower, who despite protesting Democrats, sent troops to Arkansas to de-segregate their schools. Whereas, Democrats supported the KKK, instituted Jim Crow laws, and opposed Martin Luther King Jr.’s march on Washington. If anyone is in the position to step up and serve the unvarnished truth without gratuity – it’s Trump. Trump is perfectly situated for this because he isn’t a career politically correct politician, nor beholden to the influence of special interests groups or their money. Trump can tell it to black voters like no other presidential candidate has ever dared say. Being intrepid is what Republicans should have been ever since they won control of the Congress. But like the entire political class, they are terrified to run counter to the restraining politically correct culture. This same mentality affects so many black leaders as they know all too well that straying from the Democratic plantation, or showing any signs of conducting yourself like a conservative while black is an offense deserving of instant disrepute, an Uncle Tom, a sellout to the man. The homelessness, unemployment, violence, murder, drugs, public education, you name it. In Obama’s adopted home in Chicago a recent headline read: “120 shot in one week in Chicago, 25 dead – all-time record.” By Trump reaching out at the very least he will make Democrats fight for their votes. If Republicans could get one out of every four black votes, Clinton’s political tenure would be over. It’s certainly possible as I’ve interacted on a daily basis with some when not surrounded by their usual posse of group thinkers, will tell you one-on-one that they like that Trump speaks truth to power. So far, these guys may be the exception, but if Trump can garner this segment of independent thinkers, he can change his fortunes and those of black America. Moreover, polls say many black folks don’t like Clinton. They can see through the lies and conceivably are the black silent majority. Rather, than cast a ballot for Clinton, they will sit out the election like 40 percent of eligible voters usually do. Clinton may ultimately win 90 percent of the black vote, but if the total number of black voters is down by a third, Hillary will have a difficult time
