Looking at this dilemma from the Utilitarian Approach, The Utilitarian Approach surveys an activity as far as its results or consequences. Donald Trump and his supporters would claim that him calling people out on what he considers "disrespecting the flag" is the "greatest good" because he has a large group of followers who are known to follow in his footsteps and support him. In a recent Sports Illustrated article, it states "The president spoke in an interview that aired Thursday on "Fox and Friends". He says "most people agree" with him." This could affect the stakeholders tremendously because Donald Trump seems to have a big connection with a lot of the NFL owners and because some of them support their players this could put them on bad terms with the president. This also effects the NFL owners when it comes to their players as well, because it puts them in a position to make a decision or pick a side. There are both pros and cons to President Trump speaking out on this dilemma. A pro would be like most Americans, President Trump takes pride in being an American and wants everybody to respect the flag, which is a representation of America and their military branches. To some people this may come off as him supporting the protest of the NFL players and others may take it as he does not support the protest at all. This would most likely only effect trump because his supporters may or may not agree with him not speaking up on the issue. A pro to this would be the NFL players would be able to protest in peace and would be able to continue to focus on the bigger picture which is equality, justice, and police brutality.
