Donna Karan is an American fashion designer who is considered one of the most influential designers. Born on October 2nd, 1948 in New York, Karan (Born Donna Ivy Faske) was constantly around the fashion industry, as her mother was a model and her father was a suit designer. It seemed inevitable that she would follow in their career paths, therefore, she attended Parsons School of Design. She then dropped out to work for the women’s sportswear brand Anne Klein, where she was named associate designer after Anne Klein’s death in 1974. Donna Karan’s work with Anne Klein as received numerous awards and helped sparked her career and reputation of a great designer. In 1983, she launched the diffusion line Anne Klein II, the first line that was priced between luxury and affordable clothing, or essentially the first “bridge” line.
