The older brother gets mad, and Doodle dies. Doodle is overall a favorite character for people because he’s just an incredible character everyone could love. Doodle had a unique personality. His family and older brother thought this as well. His brother even described him, “Doodle was just about the craziest brother a boy ever had.
The story of Yankee Doodle is a well known story and has a catchy song to it too. You probably remember it as a kid but in the story “The Scarlet Ibis” one of the characters is named Doodle but the story isn't what you think it is. Doodle had a brother that wanted to teach him how to do thing to become more like a normal person because Doodle had this illness from birth. Brother was a good brother to Doodle for trying to help him become a normal person. Brother spent countless hours to try to help Doodle walk and become a normal person.
The brother is to blame for doodles death. Doodle was a disabled young child with a selfish brother that only looks out for himself. His brother was ashamed to be with or around him. One of the biggest reasons wanted him dead is because he was embarrassed to be around him. The three reasons I believe that the brother wanted to kill doodle was he was embarrassed, he pushed him to hard, and he was selfish.
In “The Scarlet Ibis” one of the most important characters was the brother of Doodle. He is also the one telling the story. He is really important to the story because in a way he shaped Doodles personality. He took care of Doodle, pushed him to walk and killed doodle. He is very determined, somewhat careless, and selfish.
Doodle came a long way from when he was born. People thought he would die and they made him a casket. Doodle then learned to walk, run, and talk. Doodle died because he was pushing himself too hard and couldn’t do it anymore. In the story The Scarlet Ibis the narrator is not at fault with doodles death because the narrator did not intend for doodle to die. If the narrator truly wanted his brother dead and was to blame for his death why did he waste all his time in trying to help his brother out. Inside “A Brother’s Crime” is about Edwin Booth, the brother of John Wilkes Booth, learning about their brother’s crime and has to deal with it. The story “A Scarlet Ibis” is about how a brother has pride in their own little brother that ends badly because of how that pride has good and bad. In “A Brother’s Crime” and “The Scarlet Ibis”, the actions of a brother had a profound effect on one of the main characters.
Shame is a powerful emotion that leads people to do things absentmindedly, that could lead to dreadful outcomes. In James Hurst’s “The Scarlet Ibis” Doodle is a disabled child that can not do things that others can do easily. Brother tries to shape Doodle into a regular kid, which ends badly. When Doodle doesn't improve at as fast as his brother wants him to, he only pushes him harder. Brothers sense of shame leads to Doodle being pushed too hard and eventually dying.
Not only this but, the fact that Brother Armstrong was always ashamed of having a crippled brother. Furthermore, he often acted hostile towards Doodle and abused him both physically and mentally. Not only this, but Brother Armstrong abandoned him when he needed him the most. The evidence that has been presented is by far enough to convince you Brother Armstrong is the reason Doodle unfortunately lost his life.
