Beauty is something that many can define in their own way. People have different views on what is, and is not beautiful in their eyes. But is it really only something that can only be seen with your eyes. In society beauty is interpreted as only physical appearance and there is much more to it than that. There are people who have high expectations because of how society displays beauty. I see beauty as an aspect of something that you amuse whether you can see it physically or not. Many women see themselves lower than what they really are because of what they have to compete with. What exactly do they have to compete with? In the article, “Dove ‘Real Beauty’ Campaign Turns 10” they stated that young girls are being attacked by beauty industries by showing them altered images giving them them an idea of what they need to look like. As the “Dove Evolution” video established, women are made to look almost flawless with the power of cosmetics and digital alterations. This all leads to women being insecure about their bodies and faces so they go off and start buying into the beauty industries products. Weight loss is a huge issue for women because of the skinny and young models they are trying unhealthy methods to lose weight. One of the problems is that, “99% of girls 3 to 10 years old own at least one Barbie doll”, mentioned the “Beauty and Body Image in the Media” article. If young girls are being sold these products, they are being trained subconsciously that they should have barbie doll features, which have proportions that would leave a women unsustainable to live healthy. Quebec has for years has stopped advertising skinny models and banned them, sticking with full-sized women over 25 years old. But then this starts another argument about the women not being allowed to model because they are either too young or too skinny.
