A book of ‘1984’ which was one of the most famous books was written by George Orwell in 1948. The book talked about the country of London that was led by Big Brother who made it was an oppressive and tyrannical because of a terrible and strict control. In both public and private places, there were telescreens and microphones hiding in other to keep the country secured. During that period, no one had freedom to speak or do what they wanted as they were under the control of the party. People must follow all the rules because the party was always right. Winston had bought a diary and he started to write his daily story in his room that he thought nobody would know about it. Winston wrote that ‘Down with Big Brother’ since he couldn’t express his feeling out and that was a thoughtcrime. When Winston met Julia, they loved each other and they secretly were in the relationship. Winston remembered about the old room above the Mr. Charrington’s shop and he considered of rending the room. As Winston decided to rent that room, he called Julia to come once a time so they could have time with each other peacefully because there weren’t any telescreens or microphones. One day Winston was accidentally met O’Brien and they were having a short conversation. O’Brien happened to give his address to Winston and told him to come and take the dictionary of tenth edition. At the moment that both Winston and Julia arrived at O’Brien big building, they had a small talk. ‘We can turn the telescreen off. We in the inner party are allowed to do that’ said O’Brien (1984, p.36). In the end of the talk ‘’later I shall send you a book by Emmanuel Goldstein. When you have read the book, you will be full members of the Brotherhood.’’ Said O’Brien (1984, p.39). Subsequently, Winston was reading the book and after he stopped reading, there was a sound came out behind the picture on the wall, ‘You are dead, stay exactly where you are, do not move until we order you to’ they said (1984, p.44 and 45). There were some soldiers who just came in to the room which made Winston looked so nervous. At that moment when Mr. Charrington came in to the room made Winston realized he was hoaxed because Mr. Charrington wasn’t an old man anymore, he was a spy of the Thought Police. Winston was arrested to the prison in the Ministry of Love. In the cell, ‘We shall meet in the place where there is no dark’ said O’Brien (1984, p.47) but Winston was not surprise about O’Brien attention.
