Character Comparison There are many similarities between characters from A Separate Peace and Dead Poets Society. One of them is between Neil and Finny. They both have lots of energy and are very friendly. Two other characters that are similar are Todd and Gene. They’re both quiet and dedicated to their academics.
Life is very difficult, and certain people respond to trouble differently. An example of this takes place in the book Trouble by Gary D. Schmidt. In Trouble both Henry and Chay are in difficult situations. Henry’s brother has died and Henry and his family are in a difficult time. Chay is Cambodian and he starts to date an American girl.
Over the progression of the book the view points and relationships between the Lees and the doctors develops slightly. The medical staff was not prepared with a translator or a cultural understanding of the Hmong and how their beliefs would not match up with their medical practices. “Not only do the Hmong fail resoundingly to improve the payer mix- more than eighty percent are on Medi-Cal- but they have proved even more costly than other indigent patients, because they generally require more time and attention, and because there are so many of them that MCMC has to hire bilingual staff members to mediate between patients and providers” (Fadiman 25). This theme in the story was immensely eye opening for all of the cultural gaps that exist throughout the United States. The solution to this problem is for both sides standing on opposite sides of the gap to take the time to bridge the gap together.
Hi Amarilys, I think you did a good job with your thread. I like how you stated what each assumption is, and then, proceeded to explain each one, in detail. I feel as though, it helped to understand each assumption, better. Also, regarding the ways you stay motivated, I, too, like to make lists, to help me stay on track. With so many distractions, it can be hard to remember what needs to be done, but with making a list, you are able to remind yourself of those things.
Forgiving someone is one of the best things you could do. However, for you to forgive someone, you must accept what has happened and be ready to move on. Forgiving someone gives them an opportunity to redeem themselves, and allows them to move on as well. By accepting the past, you might find reasoning within the mistakes of the others, and give you as better understanding of how you should act. Forgiveness is a large part of The First Stone, and within the story is a valuable lesson:

Having a complex personality in a book, however makes a character interesting and difficult to predict Song Yet Sung by James McBride uses this tactic in his characters. One of these complex characters is Denwood, he is a cunning and convincing man. One of the traits that makes Denwood complex is his cunning nature that he uses to get information out of people like the blacksmith.¨Five hits.

When one refers to Bartleby, they think of the symbols that describe his strange, mysterious character. In the story, “Bartleby the Scrivener,” a public records office begins to search for a new employee.
Where the Wild Things are by Maurice Sendak is an interesting children’s picture book. The main character is a little boy named Max, who has a wild imagination. He uses all five senses as well as thought and his actions to express his personality as well as how he reacts and interacts with his surroundings. Max’s id, ego and super-ego are greatly shown in this book through the way that the author has portrayed him. Not only is this book a children’s story, but it can also be perceived as a life lesson.
In the book “Two Kinds” by Amy Tan, it’s about a little girl who is pressured by her mother to become something she doesn’t want to be. Jing- mei , the daughter, is forced to become a prodigy(child actress), by her mother, and she doesn’t want to be one. In the story, Jing- meis’ mother uses allusions such as Shirley Temple to push her into becoming a prodigy. Although at first Jing- mei is excited to become a prodigy, she later realizes its something she just doesn’t enjoy doing. Consequently, the uses of allusion in the story help Jing- mei discover to not be a prodigy and that what her mother wants for her is not always important.
In a healthcare setting you will see different cultures that will come and go. It is very important to know how to deal with each culture so that you can help them while still making sure they are comfortable. Native Americans have many different characteristics because of the different tribes from all over the world. Healthcare providers should be familiar with them so they know how to distinguish them if needed. While knowing their characteristics they should also know how to interact with Native Americans as well since their culture is a lot different than ours, we want to make sure that we don’t disrespect them.
Making bad decisions and mistakes are a part of life, whether you fix those mistakes you made or let those mistakes or bad choses ruin your life. In the book Dear Martin By Nic Stone, Justyce has made bad choices but he chooses to fix all the mistakes he made in the past. The character of Justyce experiences growth throughout the novel, as he begin to conflict and develop into a content person.
In The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, by Robert Louis Stevenson, Mr. Utterson is a man that is full of surprises. Stevenson introduces Utterson as a, “scanty, lean, long, and dreary man with a ‘rugged countenance’ (1). By this description,one can assume that Mr. Utterson is a grumpy man without much emotion, old with age, and incapable of socializing with people with much respect. With a dark and dreary appearance, Mr Utterson closely resembles Mr. Scrooge from Charles Dickens' novel, A Christmas Carol.
