Of all the great groups and performers we have to listen to here in our great country, there is one that personally has always been my with a doubt favorite of them all. That is Dr. Dre. When I first started listening to Dre, I immediately was digging the aggressiveness of his words, the tone he used, and his punch lines in my opinion are 2nd to none. He quickly became my favorite artist shortly after being exposed to him. With his government name being Andre Romelle Young, Dr Dre was born February 16 1985. His parents were both singers so his family was very affluent with music. In High school, Dre realized he wanted to make music. He had a talent for drafting, but neglected other course work. I can see a lot of myself in Dr. Dre. The fire, passion, attitude, aggressiveness, etc, I can see all those traits in myself that he was. When he was growing up Dr Dre knew right away he wanted to be involved in music for the rest of his life. He had a big passion to make music and produce for artists that were new to the music industry and help them get their individual careers off the ground as well. He was very selfless when it came to helping people. He helped the Blackstreet with their song in 1996 titled “No Diggity” become a huge hit at that time. The crazy thing about is the Blackstreet were not known that well but the moment Dr. Dre hopped on, the instantly became a top choice song for people to listen to. It was amazing what he did for rapper’s careers. When I think of Old School Hip Hop/Rap, Dr. Dre is who I think of right away. Hard beats, heavy bass, G-Funk Sound, aggressive lyrics, a pumping rhythm throughout the whole song, that’s what makes Old School Hip Hop/Rap in my opinion. Dr. Dre was at the fore front of all of that, and was one of the leaders of this style. The highlights and lowlights of Dr. Dre’s career is a lot to truly dwell into and fully grasp. He has such a decorated career. Lowlights would include his fall out with NWA, primarily Ice Cube, Eazy E’s death (AIDS) [which was a big deal at the time since he and Dr. Dre had issues with each other and were constantly dissing each other in their songs in what is considered one of the top rivalries in Hip Hop History], his fall out with Suge Knight, Tupac’s death, etc. Highlights would include the NWA hitting their peak despite having no press pushing their music, Dr. Dre’s classic album the Chronic featuring Snoop Dogg, his collabs with new and upcoming rapper at the time Eminem, the multiple awards he has won, his success with his headphones (Beats), the list goes on and on. When one studies Dr. Dre, they will study a legend that made his way on his own, and has helped
