The Case of Paul Mills and Dr. Nancy Morrison Dr. Nancy Morrison was arrested for first-degree murder in 1996 for administering a shot of potassium chloride to her terminally ill patient Paul Mills in hope to hasten his death. Prior to his death, Paul Mills had undergone multiple operations including one to remove a part of his esophageal due to cancer, after each operations, he was left weaker and more dependent on hospital care and machines to be kept alive. He was in serious pain, suffering from being in a state of constant suffering, so Paul Mills requested to be allowed to die. A DNR was issued and his family decided to take him off life support. Both himself and his family agreed to the cessation of life support, and there was clear evidence that he will not recover.

During her soccer practice, she got hit in the right-sided head by a soccer ball. She stopped the practice after the injury and was conscious at the time.
This story comes to us from the little town of Olathe Kansas via the Los Angeles Times. However, this story was also on the front-page of The New York Times. Our author, David Eulitt, leads with the defendant telling jurors he didn 't care what sentence was handed down. The author continues, Johnson County District Attorney Steve Howe had urged the jury to recommend a death sentence. The jury convicted 74-year-old Frazier Glenn Miller Jr. of capital murder for the April 2014 shootings, Eulitt notes.

The Ethics of Fred Zain Fred Zain was a forensic lab technician that worked for both the states of West Virginia and Texas. A man who did a job he was severely under qualified for, for ten years, and who was thought to be a start asset in his line of work. Fred Zain had testified in countless cases, presenting himself well and appeared to know his trade so well that no one in the courtroom questioned the lab results obtained by Zain. It is very well known that his actions in court are viewed as unethical by today’s standards. In his time of employment, Fred Zain acquired a lengthy rap sheet of tampering and falsifying evidence, false convictions.
The complainant, Mr. Shawn Thomas, known to the Department under NYSID# 05036218Z, who resides at 130 Pelham Road New Rochelle NY 10805, was interviewed by investigators. Mr. Thomas stated that he had $150.00 inside of his camera bag. The last time he saw his camera bag was when he was inside of his cell and saw the subject officer, PO Miroshnyk, searching it on the desk. He did not see the officer remove any money while he was searching his bag. He received $5000.00 in cash as a donation from Deborah Goodman.

In the film, The Poisoner's Handbook, director Rob Rapley tells a tale of several poisoning cases that happened during the 1920s. Throughout this documentary, Rapley analyzes two well-known men who have an impact on the field of forensic science; toxicologist, Alexander Gettler and medical examiner, Charles Norris. Both, Alexander Gettler and Charles Norris went to great lengths in their profession to make a difference in criminal investigations and forensics. In addition to Gettler and Norris, French criminologist, Alphonse Bertillon developed a measurement system to help identify criminals in the late 1800s. In addition to Bertillon, the first anthropologist to become a forensic expert within the United States was George Dorsey.

“We discuss it on the list of things every time we have a league meeting … We think the issue of knees, of drugs and steroids and drinking is a far greater problem, according to the number of incidents” and also telling Sports Illustrated quote, “concussions are part of the profession, an occupational risk”. Dr.Pellman seemed as if he was shying away from the real issue and the real question that was at hand during the time. When questioned about concussions, why did he feel the need to bring in other issues such as “knees”, “drinking”, “drugs”? Things that have nothing to do with the brain or even concussions?
The Incident In 1998, Dr. Linda Reynolds of the Brooke Surgery in Hyde reached to John Pollard, who was the coroner for the South Manchester District, about Dr. Harold Shipman’s high rate of deaths of all of his patients. This was brought to the police attention and the police did not pay so much attention to it, assigning some of the newer police officers, which of course had little experience in being a police officer. These assigned police officers were unable to find enough evidence to charge Dr. Harold Shipman. Shipman’s investigation was then dropped and that same year Shipman killed 3 more people, with last victim being Kathleen Grundy, whose death certificate was recorded by Shipman stating that the cause of death was “old age.”

When addressing clinical incompetence in the workplace, I feel that it is very important to keep the communication lines open. There is no way to know if the nurse if fully competent or what the nurse needs help understanding without honest communication. I agree that a skills checklist is a great way to evaluate competency (Yoder-Wise, 2015), yet I feel that there are better ways to help the nurse. I think it would be very helpful to evaluate the best way that the nurse that is struggling learns and attempt to be accommodating. Everyone learns in different ways.
