The beginning of the story introduces a lawyer from London who is very appreciated by many. He would come off a bit tedious. He’s a stern man towards himself. Completely loyal to his friends and determined to go behind the scenes to figure things out. This man is Mr. Utterson who is an old friend of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Enfield. Mr. Utterson and Mr. Enfield takes walks together even though they don’t say much in weeks they relish in having each other round. They came up one street and Mr. Enfield started recalling a problem that happened. He started his recollection saying an indescribable man, just very repulsive, crashed into a girl. Utterson couldn’t sleep thinking about the mystery man so he got up and went to his study and reads Dr. Jekyll’s will. Which basically says if he dies or anything troublesome happens to him all personal belongings of Dr. Jekyll will go to Mr. Hyde. This peeks Mr. Utterson’s curiosity, like who is this Mr. Hyde and why doesn’t he know about him. Neither does Dr. Lanyon who is also a Friend. Not knowing the unknown haunts Mr. Utterson in his dreams. I would be curious about this Mr. Hyde too specially if I knew Mr. Jekyll for a long time and this man out of nowhere is getting everything from my longtime friend. Makes you wonder what makes him so special to get everything in Mr. Jekyll’s Will and everybody else gets nothing. Mr. Utterson cleverly stalks the place where he knows Mr. Hyde would show up and in a matter of days and he does. Mr. Hyde seems to be a small, pale man who speaks hoarsely but close to a whisper. Mr. Hyde didn’t look at Mr. Utterson until he asked to see his face for next time they meet. Mr. Hyde gave the address to where he resides and Mr. Utterson took that as his friend, Dr. Jekyll must be on the verge of dying or maybe there is going to be some type foreplay involved. Mr. Utterson believes Mr. Hyde is possibly blackmailing Dr. Jekyll of something he may have done in the past. Soon after, Mr. Utterson went to go visit Dr. Jekyll just to find out that he has left out but he gained more knowledge on this Mr. Hyde by Mr. Poole that Mr. Hyde haves command
