In the Martin Luther King Jr. speech, “ The Purpose of Education”, focuses on how education plays a major role in life but it isn’t being taught or used correctly. Where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. explains how education isn’t filling its main purpose because he believes people don’t think logically or scientifically. Education should be used to determine the truth from the false or like facts from the fictional information or messages. When a person has the opportunity to be educated it helps the person achieve their goals in life. Throughout the speech we can see how he used logos, pathos, and ethos to support his moral belief of education. Being intelligent is the only thing that matters but the way you communicate or get educated matters too. If education is being used or taught effectively it can be the opportunity for acquiring knowledge and skills that are useful in everyday life. The Purpose of Education states, “ Intelligence plus- character– that is the goal of true education. Complete education gives one not only power of concentration, but worthy objectives upon which to concentrate. The broad education will, therefore, transmit to one only the accumulated knowledge of the race but also the accumulated experience of social living.”( Dr. MLK) The purpose of education will help people to develop their full potential, and become successful people in the world.
