Civil disobedience is the act of disobeying governmental commands in a peaceful, non-violent, form of protest. Throughout history, peaceful protest have had a positive impact on free society. Peaceful protest have had the biggest impact during the Civil Rights Movement. During this time, many people have led non-violent protest for their rights, including well known African-American Activist, Martin Luther King Jr.. He was most famously known for his speech, I Have a Dream.
Martin Luther King Jr, a remarkable American activist, has made his way into the hearts of thousands of individuals. Dr.King is widely known for his earth shattering “I have a dream” speech that he delivered over 40 years ago, in 1963. The speech made its first appearance during the March On Washington, one of the largest political rallies in American history that tackled various issues regarding civil rights for African Americans. Dr. King uses numerous persuasion techniques within his speech to enthrall his audience within his will to change the devastating realities African Americans must survive through. Humans need to hear things a number of times before they really become glued into their minds.
In order to achieve true freedom one must discover that you can break unjust laws through peaceful protest. In “Letter from Birmingham Jail” by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr and “The Speech at The March Washington” by Josephine Baker each article passionately argues about the disadvantages of the black community, the equality and power of education. We must learn to act with patients and not guns we must protect are self’s with a pen and paper not violence. Dr. King once4 said “Nonviolence is a powerful and just weapon. It is unique in history which cuts without wounding and ennobles the man who wields it.
The Changes of Segregation “I have a dream” Martin Luther King Jr.. MLK jr. protested on how African Americans (blacks) were treated, for example they couldn’t go to certain place without getting arrested or beaten up. Without Martin, Kids wouldn’t be able to go to school, parents get jobs, or even go out in some public places without getting arrested! How would it feel if someone couldn’t go to school just because of what color skin he/she had?

Although, he feels like he must explain why he did what he in Birmingham because people were being persuaded to the reasoning of the “outsiders coming in. ”King argues that you can never be an outsider if you live in the United States, because you must know your rights to protect to them. MLK was serving as president of Southern Christian Leadership Conference. The Birmingham branch of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference invited MLK to participate in the direct-action program if needed.

Dr.King a Great Leader When you think of a good leader you think of someone who can influence and lead people. Good leaders do the right things for the people their leading and fight for whats right.
