Ever since the U.S. became its own country, there has not been one writer on any type of paper or coin money. Many people have been wondering why there has never been any writer of sorts on the U.S. currency. If there would ever be a writer on a bill, one of the most influential children's writers, Dr. Seuss, should be on it. Although Dr. Seuss was a very creative and inspiring writer, he has been through many, many, many tough times including deaths and rejections. Even though a lot might disagree, Dr. Seuss deserves to be on the $20 bill because he was hardworking, he overcame obstacles, and he was very creative.

Seuss undoubtedly overcame several obstacles through his life. Many of his struggles started when he was just a young adult. When Seuss was attending Dartmouth College, he joined a humor magazine called “Jack-O-Lantern.” However, Seuss was caught drinking in his dorm with some of his friends and was unfortunately kicked out of the magazine staff. Even though he was kicked off of the magazine staff he still continued to write and illustrate when he was at Dartmouth. After Dr. Seuss graduated from Dartmouth he wound up going to Oxford University over in England. There he was studying for a doctorate— hence the name “Dr.” Seuss. However, he ended up dropping out of his program so he could move back to America with his new wife, Helen Geisel. Dr. Seuss also overcame many deaths of close relatives and family. When Seuss was only one and half years old, his sister died at the age of five due to the sickness of Pneumonia, a sickness where water, or any liquid, ends up in your lungs and your heart has trouble delivering oxygen to your body. When Seuss was thirty-seven-years-old his grandfather died fighting in World War Two. This was a very hard time for him as they were close. In 1950, Seuss’ mom died. Seuss was just 46 at the time of this happening. This really affected him for quite a long time. However, Dr. Seuss never stopped writing his books. Seuss is unquestionably a creative man. One way to see Dr. Seuss as a creative person is by his books. Seuss writes his books with many rhymes, colorful pictures, and most importantly, just fun to read in general. In the article, “Dr. Seuss” the page wrote, “‘Looping, free-style [sic] drawings; clanging, infectious rhymes; and a relentless logic’” (Dr. Seuss). This shows just how other people saw him as a creative person. To go with his crazy drawings Seuss often times mixed different animals to create one funny and weird looking animal. Because of his pictures and rhymes, they became a big hit with small children. Seuss ended up writing over 60 books in his lifetime and 54 of them were all published in 20 different languages all around the world. In all, he has sold over two-hundred-million copies of these books worldwide. Another way to see Dr. Seuss as a creative person is by his early career. After he dropped out of Oxford over in England, he moved back to the U.S. with his wife. Here they lived in a nice small house and Seuss started cartooning full-time. As a cartoonist, he wrote little skits and animated them. When World War Two started Seuss began to contribute political cartoons for PM Newspaper, a popular paperback in the 40’s to the 60’s. Seuss also wrote animated training films for the U.S. army during the war as well. These little films funny but were also teaching the men what to do in some situations. As shown, Dr. Seuss was undoubting a creative man. He
