Bess’s father was appalled by her death. He opposed the relationship of the two, knowing that things wouldn’t turn out so well. Then again, she disobeyed and could not stand not being in love. “Bess was such a beautiful and kind daughter, if only I’d kept her away from the highwayman, this wouldn’t of happened”, wept Bess’s father.
Cyrano de Bergerac Qu 'est-ce un bon jeu. Which also means “what a good play” in french. I mean why wouldn’t you want to speak french after seeing this play. The play was very heartwarming and hilarious in many ways more than one. Being Cyrano is hard when you 're part of the french army.
The monologue I chose to perform is from the movie You, Me, and Dupree, by Michael Lesieur and it is delivered by the character Randolph Dupree. Prior to the point of the movie the monologue is given, Dupree is fired from his job and loses his house due to taking five days off to attending Carl’s (his best friend) wedding as the best man. Carl welcomes him to stay at his house for a few days. During one of those days, Carl is called into work the morning he is supposed to give a career day speech to his wife’s elementary school classroom.
We all have our battles. Each fight is different per person. Every victory celebrated, whilst every loss is a lesson to be learned. Hamlet, for example, had many battles faced from the very beginning. All of it, wrapping around the death of his father and his subconscious need to avenge him.
The soliloquy in Act 4 Scene 4 of Hamlet by Shakespeare is a crucial part of the play, as Hamlet decides to seek revenge for his father’s death. In this scene, the central theme of revenge is accompanied by themes of religion, decay, and corruption. Hamlet sees Fortinbras’ army and realizes how many men bravely faced death to defend their honor; this enables him to connect to his father’s murder and how he should seek vengeance. The sight of the army not only influences Hamlet’s actions, but also demonstrates the political discourse during the time of the play. These themes of decay and corruption are addressed in the political discourse in this scene along with Hamlet’s use of religion to justify seeking revenge.
Character Analysis Essay "Bravery is not the lack of fear, but the ability to move forward in spite of fear. " The main character, Craig Gilner, in “It’s Kind of a Funny Story” by Ned Vizzini, checks into a hospital when contemplating suicide after being accepted into a prestigious high school. The stress causes him to be unable to sleep and eat and eventually causes him to consider killing himself. He checks into the hospital, and by doing so he is taking action even though he possesses a fear of constantly being judged. Throughout the story, Craig has to be brave, patient, and understanding in order to fight his depression.
Hamlet is a powerful story of love, life, revenge, and death. The themes within the play are written to live on for eternity. It is difficult to fully and accurately represent a play as great as this one. The movie that we watched in class did not wholly represent the wonders and the magnitude of the themes within Shakespeare’s work.
But it would have been impossible for me to fight at all, except that I was sustained by the personal and deep-rooted belief that my fight had a chance. It had a chance because it took place in a free society. Not once was I forced to face and fight an immovable object. Not once was the situation so cast-iron rigid that I had no chance at all. Free minds and human hearts were at work all around me; and so there was the probability of improvement.
Hamlet, written by famous playwright and poet, William Shakespeare, is frequently referred to as the “Mona Lisa” of literature. The true purpose and complete understanding of the play is, up to this day, not remotely knowledgeable by scholars and the audience alike. The play has led to much conversation about what Shakespeare was ultimately trying to accomplish with it. One vexed and widely referred critique was that made by T.S. Eliot, in which he described, “The ‘madness’ of Hamlet lay to Shakespeare’s hand…a deliberate dissimulation, but a form of emotional relief” (Eliot 93). In creating Hamlet, Shakespeare achieved perplexity in the scheme that created for misinterpretation of an unexplained Hamlet.

In the play King Lear by William Shakespeare, the title character spoke the line that he is “a man/ More sinn’d against than sinning” (3. ii. 59-60). He claims that more wrong had been done upon him than how much wrong he’s committed against others. And though Lear committed several erroneous mistakes throughout the play, ultimately his declaration is true. Firstly, his daughter Goneril is enraged by the boisterous actions of his camp, consisting of a “troop with majesty…/ With reservation of an hundred knights” (1. I. 131-132), at her home, and tells him “to disquantify [his] train” (1. iv. 238).

She believes that prostitution shouldn’t be labeled crime because no one is committing an inherently harmful act. This is called crimes without victims. James Joyce’s Ulysses is widely recognised and celebrated as being one of the most influential works of literature, and was previously described as “a demonstration and summation of the entire [modernist] movement” by Beebe in 1971. Throughout the over 700 page “epic”, Joyce follows a day in the life of numerous Dubliners such as Stephen Dedalus (whom we may have first encountered in Joyce’s earlier novel; A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man), and advertising campaigner Leopold Bloom, along with many others. Due to the vast array of characters and their associated perspectives, we are subjected to Joyce’s infamous use of “interior monologue”, resulting in what undoubtedly becomes somewhat of a chaotic (and notoriously difficult to read)
A tragic hero is a multifaceted, admirable character with a tragic flaw that turns his life from glory into suffering. Hamlet is an example. ‘Born’ personality, shifting mentality, and inevitable fate leads to its tragedy which eventually triggers audience’s pity. Unlike other tragedies where tragic heros discover the truths by their own actions at the end of the story, realizing that the reversal was brought by their own actions. Hamlet begins differently by knowing the truth from things happening to him.
