Throughout the book of “Of Mice and Men”, many people are influenced by their main goal or dream. Dreams are what keep these men going. The life of a migrant worker was lonely and isolating. They had to hang on to something that gave them hope of a better life. The main characters in the story (Candy, Lennie, George, Crooks, etc) all have a the same dream. Their dreams all revolve around a place to call home and companionship. Through his use of characterization, imagery and setting, and symbolism in Of Mice and Men, John Steinbeck reveals that dreams play the role of keeping a person hopeful and motivated.
Dreams are very important to every character in “‘Of Mice and Men”. Without dreams and goals, life would be very dull and every day will have no meaning. George and Lennie's dream is to own their own farm. "...We're gonna get the jack together and we're gonna have a little house and a couple of acres an' a cow and some pigs and—"An' live off the fatta the lan',”(pg.14). This quote is what everyone strives for in “Of Mice and Men”.
