Dress Codes Should Not Be Mandatory Uniforms In Schools

Uniforms should not be required nationwide. It takes away a students freedom, confidence and equality. Some school have uniforms that require students to wear a full outfit for summer and winter. Some schools just have students wear their own clothing but require school colors and have a ban on inappropriate or revealing clothes. I do not think uniforms help a student become well behaved or help the student learn and achieve more. If anything uniforms make a student more insecure, and have no effect on what actually matters in school, their performance in classes. Dress codes do not help students change their behavior. Just because a uniform is required does not mean a student is going to stop drinking, smoking, skipping class and being rude. Uniforms play a big part in someone being someones friend because of their personality or what clothes they wear. Uniforms can help student be safer too, if an intruder ever came into the area you would notice because he wouldn’t be wearing a uniform. They let everyone be equal and you cannot judge an individual on their outfit because everyone is wearing the same thing. Studies show since uniforms became required a percentage of fights that broke out has been decreasing. “Roughly 160,000 children miss school daily due to to fear of attack and or intimidation by other students. Because everyone would be dressed the same, students would not be bullied because of their clothing”. A dress code can save you a lot of time in the morning when deciding on what to wear. Knowing that you don't have to spend most of your morning finding clothes to wear is relieving. Having dress codes can help a student focus more on their work than what someone else is wearing.
