Caleb Carr Professor Lewis Intro to College Writing 30 September 2016 Alcohol and Social Media Almost every teen nowadays has some sort of social media, whether it is Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, Youtube or any other social media platform. Most teens learn about alcohol for the first time through social media if they haven’t learned about it through their parents first. With that being said, not everyone knows how to use it properly. Honestly, almost everyone uses it wrong in some sort of way. Some people use it in a way that can actually affect their life in a big way, and that is with alcohol. Some personal ways that I have been exposed to alcohol on social media would be through who I follow, whether that is people in which I know, or just popular profiles that I follow. “Alcohol advertising, meanwhile, is one of a variety of factors that appear to encourage young people to drink.” Teens see on social media different types of alcohol and different reactions other people are getting from these types of alcohol and the advertisements makes the teens more likely to try it. Other than advertisements, teens see celebrities that they look up to doing these types of things and the things they are doing makes the teens want to do the things to be like
