In the book Crash by Jerry Spinelli, a hard-headed middle school football player named, Crash and his best friend Mike cannot stop picking on his neighbor, Penn Webb, making his life miserable. Penn is an easy target for crash since he is a dweeby vegetarian who does not believe in violence. This story takes place in the lovely and peaceful suburb of Pennsylvania where all was calm. When Penn moves next door to Crash he was trying to become friends with his new neighbor yet Crash only saw him as a target and not a friend. While reading this, the book makes you hope crash will realize what he is doing is wrong.
Stupid Fast by Geoff Herbach 158 pages This book takes place in Bluffton, Wisconsin. The main characters are Felton Reinsteine, Andrew Reinsteine, and Jerri. Felton is the older brother of Andrew, and Jerri is the mother of the two but she wants them to call her Jerri.
The book I read was called Bold Spirit by Linda Lawrence Hunt. Bold Spirit is about Helga Estby and her daughter Clara Estby’s walk across America. They traveled 3,500 miles, from Spokane Washington to New York. This took place after the 1893 Washington depression. Helga and her husband Ole needed money to pay for the loans they took out to keep their farm.

We are throwing teenagers, some as young as fifteen years old, into motorized vehicles and putting them on the roadways. That’s a lot of faith and trust to put into the hands of someone so young and naive.
