The people of New Zealand would have felt ashamed that she was representing our country. It also gives other countries a chance to think badly of New Zealand and even other New Zealand athletes as they may be suspicious that because one athlete has be tested positive that there is a chance others are doing it as well. As well as looking bad on the country and embarrassing us by her choice of drug enhancing it stops athletes who are determined to represent our country well and means that they miss out on the chance to represent our country without drug use. Although New Zealand doesn't have many drug cheats due to our procedures there still have been athletes drug cheating which make the country look bad especially since we are such a small country any publicity we get from the Olympics we want it to be good rather than New Zealand being known for drug cheating therefore it is very shaming when athletes are caught for drug

After watching the video interview with New Zealand cyclist Alison Shanks we learn the extensive procedures she has to go through. She described the testing as a complex procedure as it contained of many stages. As the drug testers would just turn up to her house unexpectedly and if she wasn’t home they would wait their until she got home this assured that the athletes weren’t able to cover their tracks and prepare for testing.
