Conclusion
Through doing this research study I was able to gain more insight on drug usage patterns among adolescents within Chesterfield County, Virginia. This was very important to me because this is where I live, it is my community. I am very invested in my community. I care about the damaging factors that could very much effect the health of the community. Out of all of the negative activities that goes on within a community, drug usage was chosen to be further investigated because drugs are very dangerous. It can lead to multiple other problems like homelessness, health problems, teenage and unplanned pregnancies, violence, increased crime rate, increased incarcerations, increased mortality rate, etc. Eliminating or decreasing drug usage …show more content…

A high number of homeless people struggle with drug addiction. For some homeless people, drugs played a factor into them becoming homeless. The drug abuse was the main cause or just one of multiple causal factors for their homelessness. For other homeless people, drugs did not come into the equation or become a major problem until after they became homeless. The drug abuse was a result of their homelessness.
A drug addiction can be a very expensive habit. The continuous spending for the next fix can add up to a lot of money over time. Also when people are on drugs, the relationship with their friends and loved ones can become strained and even severed. Not only do they lose relationships but they also lose their job. Their addiction can affect their ability to keep a job for a long period of time. Without a steady flow of income, they will not be able to keep up with their obligations and bills. One part is the counseling part. The other part is the knowledge part. Adolescents will be offered the chance to have individual and group counseling so they can be able to address whatever they want to. The group counseling sessions can be offered during their morning breaks and/or after school. As previously stated in the introduction, there are multiple factors that influences people’s decision to use substances. Those factors can be peer pressure, problems at home, stress with school, family history, and many more. The purpose of counseling is so that adolescents will have the chance to address those factors to someone who is nonjudgmental and professional. Sometimes all someone needs is an ear to listen to them talk about their stresses, problems and feelings with. Hopefully with the counseling sessions they will not feel the need to turn to drugs as an outlet. The counsel sessions can be that outlet. The reason why group sessions will be offered also is so that they will not feel like they are alone. They will see that there are other students that are going through similar issues as they are and feel the same way. Group will help them to build relationships with each other and that will help battle the pressures of feeling like they have to fit in. They will have a place where they belong and where their voices
