City on the Mighty Mississippi

“WELCOME TO DUBUQUE” might be the first thing someone reads when he or she enters the city of Dubuque. Which in my option is one of the best big, small towns in Iowa. Dubuque has a lot to offer whether that is the countless amount of views of untouched nature, the upcoming business that are being introduced into Dubuque, or the mighty Mississippi that has so much to offer. I have lived in Dubuque for all nineteen years of my life so I can say I have been around a few times and back. I would like to insight you on some things many might have other wise never known about Dubuque. There are many different ways to experience Dubuque through its historical downtown and small shops. Even stay a night at the Hotel Julian; same place Al Capone laid his head when he came to visit. On the business side of things Dubuque is a great place, there are countless amounts of locally owned businesses that are very successful. While on the other hand there have been quite a few newly introduced franchises that people love and makes Dubuque feel “in the loop”. At the same time at the complete other end of the spectrum Dubuque is great for agriculture having countless farms throughout it. Corn is a huge crop and it grows great here in Iowa; many fields are filled with it giving great profits to the farmers. There’s not just one but two bridges that stretch across it, one being the Wisconsin Bridge that’s nearly a mile long and then the other the Julian Dubuque Bridge that’s only 5,760 feet long. Not only is there an access to Dubuque from Wisconsin by crossing the bridge, the same can be done in Illinois making this very convenient for travelers. Both can be seen in many of the views of the river and always gives a long view of the river when crossing them.
