War is the fighting for freedom in one’s country. Many people is affected by war and different ways. Writers protest war by exposing it in many different ways such as imagery irony and structure. Pictures that are created in people's minds while reading is imagery. The speaker in Wilfred Owen’s poem “ Dulce et Decorum Est” says “ the blood come garging from the froth - corrupted lungs…”(Owen’s 21-22). Owens describes how he see a soldier suffering, blood coming from his lungs and bubbling from his mouth. Also owens describes soldiers suffering from a gas trying to catch another breathe while they are “...guttering, choking,drowning.”(Owen’s 16). Owens show a lot of unpleasant imagery in this poem. In the poem “War is Kind” by Stephen Crane, he says the “ booming drums” (Crane 6) shows that the sound of the drums have the soldiers thinking that it is a explosion or guns being shot. …show more content…

The poem “ War is Kind” by Stephen Crane the author use the title in the poem multiples time to emphasize irony. I believe the author use this quote to show their is no reason for weeping because “War is Kind”(Crane 1). In the poem “ Dulce et Decorum Est” by Wilfred Owen the author also use the title of the poem to emphasize irony . The title means it is sweet and right to die for one’s country but the way he write his poem it is not sweet and doesn't seem right to die for your country. In the story “ The Things They Carried” by Tim O’Brien the author says what the soldiers is caring but then he says “when Ted Lavender was shot”. The quote from O’Brien poem is ironic because it has nothing to do with what the soldiers are caring in
