This past year, I set a goal to improve myself both on a personal and musical level. I set goals and pushed myself to be the best version of myself and I think that's what band is all about. Band has played a huge role in my journey and I wouldn’t be where I am today without the activity and the people that it has brought into my life. I think the best way to express this and to repay the program, activity and the people that have made such an impact on me is to serve as a leader to help other students achieve their goals. This upcoming school year and marching season, I would like to serve as a leader in any capacity with the Dutch Fork Band. I would like to be placed in this position because I feel that I could contribute as a mentor to all rookies and other students. I want to help encourage those who may not feel like they are picking up concepts, and help people to come out of their shells and realize that they are apart of the band family and that they belong. I believe that lifting others up and encouraging them, setting examples and being a positive role model are some of the best portrayals of leadership. Some responsibilities that fall under leadership are serving alongside my peers instead of ahead them, leading by example in the classroom, on stage, and on the field, and helping others to achieve their goals both on a personal level and as a group. I think that the best leadership qualities that I have include portraying a happy and positive disposition to promote positivity to others, and working hard with determination to achieve my goals. If I do not receive this position, I would like to see Austin Parsons receive a spot on the leadership team.
