“Leadership is the art of getting someone else to do something you want done because he wants to do it”-Dwight D. Eisenhower. Eisenhower was a leader that had a large impact on world war 2. Dwight D. Eisenhower did many things for the war such as the success of the allied attack in North Africa when he became a general. And later he even had success on the invasion of Sicily and the Italian mainland (History.com). And because of these great accomplishments he was made “A full general in early 1943”(History.com). But he did much more than ww2 in his lifetime as he later he became a president and did many great things for the society. Dwight D. Eisenhower made a change not only in ww2 but also in America.

Dwight D. Eisenhower was born October 14th 1890. And lived in Denison Texas near the tracks till they had to move to Aveline so his dad could be a mechanic at a creamery. It was in Aveline where Dwight’s brother died at only 10 months old from diphtheria, but despite this he continued to have a happy childhood. He was always interested in a career in the military even though his mother was a pacifist and opposed it (Dwight D.). Dwight did many things as a child like fishing, chores, hunting, and football. He especially liked football and he played on the Aveline High school team. Teachers weren't really fond of him considering that he only got average grades, played many jokes, and smoked. He graduated high school in 1909 and became a fireman while also helping his uncle and father at the creamery.
