Jeffrey Mohler Dr. Peterson Political Science 1100 7 November 2014 ??????????????????? Dwight D. Eisenhower was the president of the United States from 1953 to 1961. He had an impressive military career of over forty years. He held many important positions such as: Chief of Staff of U.S. Army, commander-in-chief of the Allied Forces, and first Supreme Allied Commander of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. These leadership positions prepared him thoroughly for his time as a president. Eisenhower also had a great presidency. Eisenhower encouraged and signed the Civil Rights Bill of 1957. He was responsible for the Interstate Highway System and NASA. He kept a balanced budget. He ended the Korean War, and he kept peace during the cold war.
