The Most Dynamic Character in Pride and Prejudice

Elizabeth, the protagonist character throughout the book “Pride and Prejudice”, is a character who is not easily defined. She is intelligent and stubborn, but she also is a strong independent woman. Being an older sister, she looks after her family, but her harsh tongue gets the best of her at times. She is an excellent observer, and a great listener as well. Elizabeth has the ability to not be swayed by those around her, and she refuses to let others dictate how she lives her life. To say the least, Elizabeth does not need the assistance or reassurance from those surrounding her.

Being her father’s favorite and mother’s least favorite, her independence and self worth comes from her clever mind. Darcy admires her wittiness although she teases him constantly, and her sense of foolishness from being wise is excellent. Her teasing behavior alters when she falls in love with him. But, her worst mistakes are caused by her downfalls of pride and prejudice.

Her ability to admit when she is wrong is developed as the story continues. Her opinion of others are rarely ever swayed, but this is instantly altered thanks to Darcy, when she reads his letter. She suddenly begins to change her personality after falsely judging Darcy. An often audacious character, Elizabeth can sometimes take surprisingly bold risks, including marrying Darcy. She is one of the most realistic characters of the story overall.

Elizabeth’s thoughtfulness is often times hardly visible due to her harsh sense of humor. But, she is indeed a caring person who has the best intentions for her sisters especially. A woman of many traits, Elizabeth is not easily defined to say the least. In conclusion, her behavior is changed because of Darcy and proving her first impression of him to be wrong. Her witty humor is altered due to his admiration for her, and she finds herself being more considerate as a result of their relationship.
