Ride sharing system knows share a ride and similar with dial a ride system which allows people to share a vehicle with another from origins to destinations. Nowadays, a new innovation of ride sharing system more rely on the smartphone application which known as “real-time” ride sharing or “dynamic” ride sharing. An efficient of ride sharing system will make the passengers easy to book a taxi and make a payment through the application such as Uber, Lyft, Blablacar and etc. (Nicole, Jie Yang, & Russel, 2015) Ride sharing classic as door to door transportation service, is focus on the efficient and effective transportation of goods which to mitigate the effect of transportation demand on traffic congestion and environment and follows to create …show more content…

(Xing Wang, 2013) According to Agatz (2012) indicated the challenges of dynamic ridesharing focused on the ride-matching optimization problem, which deals with how to determine the routes and schedules of the vehicles which including how to assign passengers to drivers. For instance, there are more than 5,591,000 vehicles finishing around 9,090,000 passenger trips per day in Beijing. As a result, that means a huge number of trip requests and tremendous number of running vehicle in cities that challenges the scalability of matching algorithms. The route searching algorithm such as branch-and-bound and integer programming are designed for offline computation which was measure the time in minutes or hours and the real time dynamic ride sharing requires in millisecond. The available studies from Andrew (2010) indicated that the lack of schedule flexibility is one of the longest running challenges in rideshare arrangements which means the relatively fixed schedule between freight and passengers from arrival and departure time at one location. As result of variable work and social schedules that made the flexibility and reliability in rideshare arrangement difficult to maintain. Hence, the dynamic ride sharing at urban scale brings advantages and challenges at the same times. Since when …show more content…

And here, we take Uber Pool as example to explain the challenges. Since we know that the ride sharing industry is a new modeling system for the users and their laws regulation is so patchwork which continues to affect ride sharing concept. According to Anna (2014) indicated that Uber and Lyft do not provide wheelchair for disabled people. THE LEXBLOG NETWORK shows that three disabled people in Texas filed a federal complaint against Uber and Lyft because the companies’ cars are not wheelchair friendly. (Anna , 2014) Under Americans with Disabilities Act Compliance (ADA), private taxi service must have fully use of disability service like wheelchairs and cannot discriminate the disabled. Under ADA, Uber and Lyft do not provide training or guidelines to vehicles-for-hire services which to mobility impaired consumers such as Plaintiffs who require wheelchair accessible transportation vehicles that use their service concerning lawfully meeting the needs of disabled consumers. (DAN , 2014) That is the challenges of integration freight and human being since most of the rides sharing drivers are apps users driving people for extra profit so they do not follow the requirement of
