I am a dynamic leader. That is a bold statement to make and refers to my leadership style. Dynamic supportive and dynamic assertive are two different types of leaders. My leadership style is dynamic supportive with humility, enthusiasm, and empathy as my virtues. Charismatic, reliable , gentle, confident and strong-willed, all of these words describe dynamic supportive leaders. Dynamic supportive leaders have difficulty saying “no,” need to prioritize their commitments better. There are disadvantages to this particular leadership style. We tend to be procrastinators, can become lethargic, suffer from depression and become lazy. On the upside we are sensitive to the needs of others, great conversationalists, and best friends. I have been described as a strong willed individual throughout my life, but did not realize that I could apply it to my leadership style. Since I am a special education teacher, I deal in a world of paperwork, law and deadlines. A colleague that I work with tried to get me to compromise my ethics to accommodate them. I did not go along with what was asked of me since it would was wrong. After reading about dynamic supportive leadership I had a better understanding of why I react the way I do. One of the descriptors is reliability. When a colleague asked me to assist with a technology question, I was able to help them through frustration.
