In Fahrenheit 451, Ray Bradbury’s dystopian novel protagonist, Guy Montag, is a fireman, who begins questioning everything he has ever known as he continues to read about the world. Additionally, in Steven Spielberg's blockbuster dystopian movie Minority Report, protagonist John Anderton navigates the hardships of PreCrime, a system put in place to prevent all crime, as he realizes that the system is not all as perfect as it seems. The organization would lose power if there was no control over society due to the PreCrime image. Therefore, the lives of PreCrime workers are presented as extraordinary to maintain citizen compliance and government control to ensure power remains with the government. Furthermore, in Animal Farm, Squealer the pig served as Napoleon’s primary point of contact with the farm animals throughout Napoleon's dictatorship. Squealer serves as a propagandist, telling the other animals lies throughout the novel to maintain their obedience to the government put in place by the pigs. Squealer was seen as the pig who “spoke [lies] so persuasively that [the animals] accepted his explanations without further question” (Orwell 158). The pigs misuse their authority in several ways throughout the book, including stealing food, disobeying the law, and lying about it to maintain peace on the farm.
