Eager Allen Poe is hands down the master of literature and his famous poem The Raven is full of Gothic elements. The Raven has the most descriptive setting of mystery and suspense. The setting is at midnight and is a gloomy dark night. The author wakes up in his drowsy state and he wishes to see his long lost love, but it is only a raven. The poem also contains elements of the supernatural when the narrator says, “no mortals ever dared to dream before”. Also the whole idea that he has of his dead lover coming back for him is supernatural. This leads into another element that the author has many visions of the times he spent with his love.
