Welcome to Eagle Radio “Welcome to Eagle Radio” came echoing out of the phone from a syrupy sweet feminine toned voice. That was it, the phone call I had been waiting for. I had gotten the job! Wow, I’m going to be a star! I thought as I hung up the phone with images of the glitz and glam of Johnny Dare, Wolfman Jack, Casey Kasem, and Delilah running wild through my mind. I was to come dressed to impress the following morning for a tour and to fill out the official documentation. The happy dance ensued. I awoke with a song in my heart. I jumped out of bed and headed to the shower giddy like a child on Christmas morning. I put on my best dress pants, navy blue with a small grey pinstripe running down the leg, paired with a shimmering satin coral tank top. Each desk, personalized with photos and trinkets. One desk in particular had an entire shelf of plastic figurines from Star Wars and Simpsons. Most had the average clutter of computer, phone, tape dispenser, and an array of paper documents scattered sloppily around. As we passed through he introduced me to each person we walked by. Each cordially shook my hand and welcomed me. All of them said the same thing “Welcome to Eagle.” Their words sounded sincere but their eyes twinkled mischievously. As though there was a joke that I had yet to become aware of. Before I knew it, we were back to the lobby, where the day had started and I had just walked in a vast circle. As Travis was thanking me for ‘hanging out’ with him I said “Hey, why do you use your real name on the air.” “Travis Dodge,” he said as he flared his hands out to the side and took a slight bow, “it just rolls off the tongue.” I giggled and nodded, agreeing with him.
